Galway 2-1 Longford U13

  • Mar 11,2012
Galway U13s won a hard fought battle against a very well organised Longford team today in Terryland. The home team made things hard for themselves after conceding a sloppy opener when the defence and goalkeeper got caught in a mix up to leave the Longford striker to pass the ball into an empty net.Galway bossed the posses ion in the opening half and drew level when a clever pass from Nathan Ward found Kealan Grainger who's trickery got him past the defender to slot the ball home and go in level at halftime. It was a much improved performance in the second half with Bronson Kelly controlling the midfield and this pressure led to the second goal when Tommy Molloy showed great confidence and composure to pass the ball pass the advancing Keeper after a through ball from Nathan Ward.Galway should have added more goals with missed chances from Graham Fallon ,Kealan Grainger and a goal line clearance after a well struck volley from Bronson Kelly .Longford were restricted to long range efforts and Galway held out to win 2-1 and collect 6 pts from their opening two games in the inter -league comp
