Mervue's under 12 team battled back from the early concession of a goal after just three minutes to claim a first Connacht Cup title at this age group since 2005 at Abbeycarton, Longford on Saturday afternoon.
Two smashing first half strikes from Ronan Manning had Mervue 2-1 in front at the break and Niall Murphy increased the lead to 3-1 five minutes after the re-start with another good strike from the edge of the box.
Westport to their credit fought back and reduce the margin back to the minimum six minutes later to set up a tense finish but Damien Brennan and Rynal Browne's team defended well to run out winners.
