Gaynor U16 Tournament

The Galway side played very well and in the 1st round they Won 2 and Lost 2 but Qualified for the Semi-Finals of the Gaynor
Plate. In the Semi Finals they beat Kerry by 2 nil (Eleanor Stafford) to meet Waterford in the final. Waterford eventually won
Out 2 nil but this was against the run of Play as the Waterford side were under pressure for most of the game but two break away goals
Sealed it for them as Galway Pushed forward to try and win. Shauna Fox and Evvie Lowndes picked up injuries in the Final and hopefully
Will have a quick recovery with Shauna needing to go to UCHG. This tournament was a stepping stone to the Irish U17 Development side and
Lisa Casserly (Colga FC) and Eleanor Stafford (Salthill Devon) have been called up for the 1st round of this on Thursday 12th July. There were many other girls who
Will hopefully progress further in the future with Saoirse Burke in Goals and Shauna Fox, Aoife Walsh, and Alana Moran in the backs (Previously Called up)
Cadhla Gillen, Ciara Lynagh, Katie Carter to name but a few. All in all this was a very good tournament for these girls and it looks good for Galway Women’s
soccer into the future. It would be remiss not to mention the Coaches Kevin Cassidy and Sinead Ni Cormaic who not only did a brilliant job over the weekend but have been working with this set of girls since last Sept.
