Galway FA U16s

The Galway Footballs Associations Under 16 side take on Athlone Wednesday night next, the 13th March in Eamon Deacy Park in the inter league series. The squad which is managed by Noel  McDonnell and Colin Connelly have had good preparation for the game and are expected to perform well on the night. The two coaches along with Pat Manogue who is their liaison officer within the Galway FA have put together a quality squad and left no stone unturned in their quest to instil pride and integrity to the lads who represent the city and county at this level.

This current under 16’s group representing Galway this year consists of a combination of five local teams. The players hail from clubs such as Mervue United, Salthill Devon, Hibernians, Barna and Corrib Celtic Club. The mixture of players provides us with a strong team with each member of the panel bringing their unique qualities from their different backgrounds to the forefront. Their drive, focus and passion for football provides a motivated and success driven team for the coming season.

Many members of the panel have played together over the years in such events as the Kennedy Cup. With some panel members part of the successful winners of Irish School Cup 2011/12 “The Bish”. We also have a current under 16’s Ireland Squad member, Conor Melody as part of our panel, who bring his wealth of experience and skills to this great team. There is no doubt that this team does not lack talent.

The team is captained by local Mervue player Andrew Connolly who is key asset and their success to date. We have seen them  achieve success in their clash with Mayo earlier this year, with a 3-nil success.  There are high hopes for the team this coming season, with strong talent and skills evident throughout the team.  The team looks forward to tomorrow night’s game and would very much welcome
